A Portuguese artist, Joana Vasconcelos lives and works in Lisbon. Through her work, she questions the status of women, consumerism society and collective identity, while turning the spotlight on artisanal traditions and Portuguese savoir-faire.
She has exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the 55th Venice Biennale, the Palazzo Grassi/Fondation François Pinault in Venice, and her first retrospective exhibition was held at the Museu Coleção Berardo in Lisbon. She is the first woman and the youngest artist to have exhibited her work at the Palace of Versailles.
